Chatty Cafes – Following the Scottish Government’s campaign to address social isolation and loneliness in 2018, Inverclyde Libraries actively sought to address this within the Inverclyde community by establishing our Chatty Cafe programme. By encouraging more groups with similar hobbies and interests to meet in various library branches the programmes sought to encourage social inclusion, social interaction and engagement within the library setting.
This worked well and over the course of 2018 and 2019, five Chatty Cafes were established: Chatty Café Crafters; Bead & Blether; Remember When…; Tea & Touchscreens and Blooms & Biccies. Before the outbreak of Covid-19 the sessions ran on a “drop-in” basis to create an informal, friendly and inclusive atmosphere which there was and a lot of fun, chat and tea were had. We plan to carry on with all of our groups when we can again and we would love you to come along and get involved when restrictions permit. Just keep an eye on our website and social media platforms (details on the Home page) or visit the Comments page and we’ll let you know when that is.
Crafternoons – Our Crafternoons are a chance for young people to come into the library for themed craft sessions led by our library staff. Sessions are informal drop-ins where all materials are supplied and the only limit to what can be made is imagination.
